At Manuka Europe, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your data when you visit our website or make a purchase.

We collect information that you provide directly to us, as well as information collected automatically when you use our website:

• Shipping and billing addresses
• Payment information (processed securely through our payment provider)

We use the information we collect to:

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Order information is typically retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.

Manuka UMF Validation (eu.manuka.umfvalidation) is our Android app for checking the UMF™ certificate of a Mānuka honey jar. It is published by Manuka Europe Distribution, the company behind this shop (see “Contact Us”). The app needs no account or login, and we (Manuka Europe Distribution) collect no personal data through it.

• Camera: used only to read the barcode, batch number and dates on the jar label. Recognition runs entirely on your phone. Camera images, and photos you pick from your gallery, are processed the same way: they never leave your device and are not stored.
• Certificate lookup: to show the certificate, the app sends only the batch number (and the UMFHA licence number derived from it) over HTTPS to the public certification search of the UMF Honey Association (umf.org.nz, New Zealand). This is not personal data. The UMF Honey Association’s own privacy policy applies to their website.
• Stored on your device: the public UMFHA batch index is downloaded and kept on your phone for 24 hours. Uninstalling the app removes all of its local data.
• No advertising, no analytics or tracking tools of our own, and no crash reporting. Google ML Kit, the on-device recognition library the app uses, sends Google technical diagnostic data: device model and OS version, app name and version, performance and error data, and a random per-installation identifier. It contains no images and no recognised text. Google uses this data to maintain and improve ML Kit (see Google’s “ML Kit data disclosure” page: developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure).
• Links to our shop open in your browser and carry campaign parameters (utm_source=umf-validation-app). From there, this privacy policy and our cookie rules apply, as for any visit to our website.
• Permissions: camera and internet access only.
